TYPE: Huerigos Glaze-on-White

DATE:  A.D. 1250 to 1660 (Rakita and Raymond, 2003;160)

KEY DIFFERENCES: Glaze black designs on a white slip. Sometimes the glaze paint doesn't "glaze", however the paint will still appear thick and not polished compared to Villa Ahumada Black-on-White.

COMMENTS: This type has not been formally recognized (new type).

 

 

 

 

 

1N Casas Grandes Huerigos Glaze-on-White Pottery Seed Jar with two Mearns Quail effigies.

The bottom of this vessel is non-slipped. The last photo shows the vessel with a

mounted Mearns Quail in which the effigies represent.
