TYPE: Hawikuh Glaze-on-Red

DATE: A.D. 1630 to 1680+ (Lanmon & Harlow, 2008;91)

BOWL DESIGN PLACEMENT: Interiors and exteriors.

KEY DIFFERENCES: The rim shape and designs distinguish Hawikuh Glaze-on-Red from the earlier type, Heshota Glaze-on-Red.  Heshota rims are direct or incurved, while Hawikuh are flaring or recurved. The glaze paint is often thicker and "runnier" on Hawikuh specimens.
